With an innings and 33-run victory over Central Zone in the championship game on Tuesday in Cox's Bazar, South Zone won their sixth Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) championship thanks to Shadman Islam's double century and Khaled Ahmed's five-wicket haul.

In this game played at the Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox's Bazar, South needed seven more wickets on Day 4 to skittle out Central Zone for the second time after forcing the defending champions to follow-on.

Despite some resistance from Abu Hider Rony and Mohammad Sharifullah, they failed to avoid defeat.

After the top-order failed miserably, Rony scored 77 and Sharifullah made 63 as Central postponed the inevitable. Mohammad Mithun's 49 was the third-highest score of the innings.

Thanks to Khaled Ahmed, Central were eventually bowled out for 237 runs in their second innings. Spinner Nazmul Islam Apu has claimed three wickets.

With 230 runs in their first innings, the second innings effort means Central fell 33 runs short of what South had scored (500/5 declared) the only innings they batted in this match.

Test opener Shadman Islam, had scored 246 runs in that while veteran Marshal Ayub had scored an unbeaten 120.
