Shakib Al Hasan became the man of the match in the first ODI against the West Indies as he cliched four wickets for eight runs and made 19 runs with the bat. After more than a year, the left-arm spinner seems to have caught the previous rhythm with the ball. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon believes the number one all-rounder has returned to International cricket at his natural form.

BCB boss addressed Shakib as a 'mega star' of Bangladesh. Although many have doubts about Shakib's performance, the BCB president paid no heed to it.

“Shakib has always been our mega star, no one ever had any doubt about it.  But what I will say is that he bowled brilliantly.  Many may have doubted what his performance would be like after so long.  I had no such doubts. The form we have seen in the World Cup is the best form I have seen in batting to get back to the form as before.  It may take some time for that form to return.” said Papon.

Shakib, who dropped to number three batting position has played wonderful in the World Cup, scored 606 runs in eight matches at an average of 86.57. Despite such a performance, he had to lose the number three position. Papon said he did not believe Shakib had lost his place due to his performance.

“It's very difficult for me to say. I don't think Shakib's number three position came because of his performance.  If for some reason the coach and the captain can say.  I don't believe that his place is changing just because of his performance.” he added
