The ICC discussed several potential changes to cricket’s playing conditions during its Chief Executives Committee (CEC) meeting held virtually on Thursday, with proposals affecting all three formats of the game.

One of the biggest proposals involves allowing teams to switch from a red ball to a pink ball during a traditional Test match in weather-affected situations, enabling play to continue under floodlights.

The move would require agreement from both teams before the start of a series and could take effect from October if approved at the ICC Board meeting on May 30.

The CEC also considered allowing head coaches to enter the field during drinks breaks in ODIs, allowing teams to communicate directly with players during matches.

In T20Is, the ICC discussed reducing the innings break from 20 minutes to 15 minutes to speed up the game.

Another proposal would allow on-field umpires to use Hawk-Eye technology to monitor bowlers for potentially illegal actions during matches as part of efforts to strengthen action against suspect bowling techniques.
