Bangladesh have recorded a rare double whitewash over Pakistan in Test cricket, winning series both at home and away.

After sweeping Pakistan 2-0 in Pakistan in August 2024, they repeated the feat at home with victories by 104 runs in Dhaka and 78 runs in Sylhet, once again sealing a clean sweep.

Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto believes that facing the same opposition in similar conditions repeatedly will not help the team fully develop.

He stressed the need to play more Tests against top-ranked sides and urged the ICC to schedule more matches against teams like Australia, England, and India, both home and away.

“We want to play Test matches against all teams. I think we want more Tests against Australia, England, and India, both home and away. As experience increases, the team develops. Otherwise, it is difficult to build a team playing the same opponent in the same conditions,” Shanto said in a press conference.

He added that Bangladesh have improved significantly in recent years, especially with more regular Test cricket through the World Test Championship structure, but insisted that further progress depends on maintaining consistency and increasing exposure to stronger opponents.

“We are getting more opportunities to play now, which is a positive sign. But if we can play more matches against Australia, England, and India, it will be even better for the team,” he said.

Shanto concluded that while Bangladesh are moving in a positive direction, the main challenge is to sustain this improvement and continue playing better cricket consistently.
