Having already established himself as one of Bangladesh’s greatest red-ball cricketers, Mushfiqur surpassed Mominul Haque’s tally of 13 Test centuries with another memorable innings in whites.
The experienced batter, who retired from ODI and T20I cricket to focus solely on Test cricket, reached the milestone shortly after the tea break. He completed his century with a boundary off Mohammad Abbas.
Mushfiqur had earlier equalled Mominul’s record during his landmark 100th Test match six months ago at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, where he also celebrated a century to become only the 11th batter in history to score a hundred in his 100th Test.
Determined to avoid another missed opportunity after falling for 71 in the previous Test against Pakistan, Mushfiqur batted with patience and authority throughout his innings in Sylhet.
After surviving a controversial lbw decision for 23 in the first innings, the right-hander produced a flawless effort on Day Three.
He brought up his 30th Test fifty off 103 balls with three boundaries and a six before accelerating confidently towards three figures.
Mushfiqur scored the second half of his century in just 75 deliveries, attacking the Pakistan bowlers with controlled aggression.
This was Mushfiqur’s second Test century against Pakistan in 10 matches, following his match-winning 191 in Rawalpindi in August 2024.
