Nahid grabbed headlines during the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he claimed nine wickets in just five matches and impressed with his pace and control.
He also played a key role in the final, helping his side secure the title with a match-winning spell.
The right-arm quick had earlier announced himself in international cricket against Pakistan, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh’s historic Test series sweep in 2024.
His standout performance included a four-wicket haul in the second Test that dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup.
Over the past two years, Nahid has further developed his game, delivering consistent performances in both international and franchise cricket.
He recently produced a five-wicket haul in an ODI against Pakistan and continued his impressive form in the series against New Zealand.
Speaking to the media after Pakistan’s training session, Afridi revealed he had discussed Nahid with Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach Shaun Tait.
“I spoke to Shaun Tait before the ODI series. I think Nahid Rana can be a big asset for Bangladesh cricket. I hope Bangladesh use him well. He is in very good form recently, but hopefully he won’t do too well against us [smile],” Afridi said.
With the Test series approaching, Nahid’s form and pace have clearly put Pakistan’s batters on alert.
