Sridharan Sriram, Australia's spin bowling coach, has opted to withdraw from the national team's historic trip of Pakistan next month. Sridharan has been with the Australian national squad since 2016.

Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that they are in communication with Daniel Vettori, the former New Zealand captain, to work as the interim spin bowling coach for the Pakistan tour.

Despite the fact that CA and Vettori have yet to negotiate an agreement, it is extremely expected that the former Kiwi spinner would accept the post and travel with the team on the tour.

Vettori is one of the most in-demand coaches in the world of franchise cricket. Between 2019 and 2021, he was Bangladesh's spin bowling coach. He was also a member of Australia's setup for a short time prior to their 2017 tour of India.

The historic tour is set to commence on 4 March as the two teams face off in the first Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The tour comprises 3 Tests, as many ODIs and a one-off T20I. This will be Australia’s first tour of the country in 28 years.
